US Government

The Obama administration, soon after taking office, began moving on smart grid.  We knew smart grid was on his radar when he mentioned it by name in one of the first lines of his Democtratic Party address during the presidential campaign.  His actions after becoming president reflected a clear understanding of the tough issues that utilities faced in trying to modernize the grid, namely a lack of interoperability standards and a healthy fear of deploying and paying for technology until those strandards were set.  Here's what unfolded, including our latest coverage on the government's role in the effort:
