GridWise Alliance probes data
privacy issues, adds key members

The GridWise Alliance recently agreed to work with the Future of Privacy Forum, a nonprofit industry coalition focused on consumer data privacy, the alliance told the press yesterday.  GridWise has four new board members and 20 new alliance members, it added.

          The new board members are: Becky Harrison, director of the smart grid program at Progress Energy; Laura Ipsen, senior VP and general manager smart grid at Cisco Systems; Mani Vadari, VP energy infrastructure at Battelle, and Bruce Walker, VP asset strategy & policy at National Grid.

          New GridWise members that joined after June 30 included: ADICA, Battelle, Black & Veatch, Boeing, Carnegie Mellon University, Coulomb Technologies, EMC, Honeywell International, Johnson Controls, Johnson County Community College, National Energy Center of Excellence -- Bismarck State College, NSF FREEDM Systems Center, OPower, OTN Systems, Penn State University -- Greater Allegheny Campus, Purdue University, Shore Energy at Salisbury University, Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, the University of Texas at Austin -- Office of Sponsored Projects and Virginia Tech -- Advanced Research Institute.

          The GridWise Alliance is a coalition that advocates for a smarter grid for the public good.
