NIST, EnerNex prepare for
SGIP webinar, meetings
November 9, 2009
Printer-Friendly Format

The next first Smart Grid Interoperability Panel (SGIP) update webinar is set for Wednesday from 11 am-12 pm.  NIST and EnerNex will update participants on the structure of SGIP and plans for meetings at the Grid-Interop conference Nov 16-17 in Denver, Colo.  SGIP members will meet in person for the first time that week.  To register for the virtual meeting, please visit: http://collaborate.nist.gov/twiki-sggrid/bin/view/SmartGrid/SGIP.

At Grid-Interop, SGIP meeting attendees are expected to ratify the SGIP charter and elect its first board, EnerNex told the press last week.  A detailed agenda can be found at www.grid-interop.com.  NIST is paying EnerNex $8.5 million to support the federal agency in its role of coordinating and accelerating development of smart grid interoperability standards.

EnerNex described the SGIP as “an open, transparent body” made up of about 20 stakeholder categories including utilities, renewable power producers, SDOs, professional societies, manufacturers and vendors, consumers and IT and system developers.  That quote is from the NIST smart grid TWiki.
