BPL Global delivers energy
controls to French apartments
April 28, 2009
Energy management technologies from BPL Global were deployed at some apartment buildings in France, said the Pittsburgh-based smart grid technology maker and integrator/operator. The deployment of BPL Global's Easy Green Building Efficiency Management (BEM) solution in the city of Poitiers in southwest France allowed in-premises temperature cuts that brought an estimated 14% savings in annual heating costs, said the firm.
Easy Green is a web portal designed to let building occupants and landlords customize their power use and cut costs by monitoring the use of electric, gas and water services in each apartment in near real time, to encourage conservation.
BPL Global's BEM combines software and hardware including intelligent sensors and a communications backbone to offer an interface to securely monitor building services, systems and assets such as heating/cooling systems plus lighting and other significant loads including DG and storage technology.
Monitoring such gear lets a facility manager track performance and send alerts when performance changes.
The firm provides software solutions and services to electric utilities and energy service firms to more efficiently manage demand, integrate distributed energy resources, improve service reliability and optimize cost and capital productivity. BPL Global's partners include local utilities, ISPs, equipment suppliers and financiers.
